LOUISVILLE, Ky. Brian Orakpo Titans Jersey . -- Rory McIlroy played the kind of golf Saturday that typically would put him in control at a major championship. Staked to a one-shot lead in the PGA Championship, he made three birdies over his last four ........... for a 4-under 67. All that did was allow him to stay in front -- barely. More rain in the morning allowed for a deluge of birdies during a third round so wild that six players had a share of the lead at some point. McIlroy could hear it. The cheers of so many birdies resounding across the back nine made him realize it was time to get it in gear. He rolled in a 20-foot birdie putt at No. 15. His approach from 172 yards landed with a splat next to the ..................... on the 16th for an easy birdie, and he took a one-shot lead over Bernd Wiesberger by getting up-and-down from a front bunker on the par-5 18th. He was at 13-under 200. McIlroy .......... the view from the top -- he has won all three of his majors with the lead. "Its not the biggest lead Ive ever had," said McIlroy, who led by eight, three and six shots after 54 ........... in his previous major wins. "But Im still in control of this golf tournament. Its a great place to be going into tomorrow." Sunday is shaping up as a thriller, typical of the final major of the year. McIlroy would have reason to feel like a driver in pole position who looks into his rearview mirror at the start of the race. Eight players were within four shots of the lead, a group that includes Rickie Fowler, Phil Mickelson and Henrik Stenson. Wiesberger closed with three straight birdies -- the three putts were a combined 3 feet, 6 inches -- for a 65. Playing in only his sixth major championship, the 28-year-old Austrian now gets to play in the final group at a major with the No. 1 player in the world. "From now on, its just a bonus, really," Wiesberger said. Fowler, a runner-up in the last two majors and the first player since Tiger Woods to finish among the top five in all three of them, gets one last crack. He played bogey-free for a 67 and was two shots behind. Fowler will be playing in the penultimate group with Mickelson, the five-time major champion who turned his game around with strong finish. Right when he looked to be fading from contention, Lefty turned it on with a long birdie putt on the 14th ....................., two more birdies, and then he narrowly missed an eagle putt on the final ...................... He had a 67 and was three shots behind. "That birdie putt on 14 was really the one that got me going, because I needed to finish strong to get back in it," Mickelson said. Mickelson was at 10-under 203 with Jason Day, who played in the final group Saturday and had to settle for a 69. Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Saskatchewan fired a 3-under 68 to get to 8-under par and within five strokes of the lead. He made six birdies and five pars over his last 11 ........... of the third round. The PGA Championship does not bill itself as the toughest test in golf. It assembles the best field of the majors and lets them slug it out over four days. Add a super soft course from morning showers, and cheers rained down from every corner. The average score was 69.6, though it felt easier to former Masters champion Adam Scott, one of nine players with a 66 or better. "Doesnt get any easier," said Scott, who was six behind. "Seems like 4 or 5 under is about even par today." For all the birdies, two pars early in the round were important. Day hooked his tee shot so badly on the second ..................... that it cleared the stream and landed in a bog. It eventually was found in knee-high vegetation. Day had to remove his shoes, roll up his pants and wade across the stream to get there. He blasted across the fairway into the rough, hit wedge onto the green to 8 feet and made it. The tee was moved forward on the par-4 fourth ....................., making it play 292 ............ Seven players made eagle. McIlroy was not one of them. He hooked his tee shot into the woods and had to take a penalty drop to get a clear look at the green. McIlroy made a 12-footer for par to stay in the lead, and he made birdie on the next ...................... Back and forth it went all day. Fowler, Day, Wiesberger and even Ryan Palmer (69) and Jim Furyk took turns joining McIlroy atop the leaderboard. Through it all, Boy Wonder never fell back. "It wasnt as easy as I expected it to be out there today," McIlroy said. "They tucked a few pins away, and obviously playing with the lead, you maybe cant play with the freedom as if youre chasing. But really happy with how I finished. To shoot another 67 without really having some of my best stuff for the round was really pleasing." And thats what makes it hard on everyone else chasing him Sunday. McIlroy is coming off a wire-to-wire win at the British Open and rallied to win a World Golf Championship in his next start. He goes after a third straight victory from a familiar position -- in the lead. Unlike his other three majors, he has hardly any margin for error and a lot more players chasing him. Sweeting then scored three in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh to grab a commanding 9-2 lead. Chelsea took until the second half to trouble the leagues bottom team, but Schuerrle then ripped through the defence with ease at Craven Cottage to keep Jose Mourinhos side on track for the title.TSN.ca presents its latest weekly power rankings for the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season. Rankings were weighted evenly between separate lists made by TSN Radio host and soccer analyst Gareth Wheeler as well as TSN.cas soccer editors. 1. Arsenal (Last Week-1) Mesut Ozil opened the scoring for the Gunners but they only held the lead for four minutes as they drew Everton 1-1 at Emirates Stadium. Olivier Giroud came a post away from giving the Gunners all the points. Arsenal are still top of the table, five points clear of both Liverpool and Chelsea. 2. Manchester City (LW-2) While Sergio Agueros scoring touch continued so did Citys poor road form as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Southampton. After Agueros strike in the 10th minute, City were wasteful with chance after chance to double the lead before they conceded the equalizer before the half. Aleksandar Kolarov and Aguero were the two guiltiest of not getting that second goal. 3. Liverpool (LW-4) In what was eventually ruled a two goal performance, Luis Suarez once again led Liverpool to a huge victory, 4-1 over West Ham. After scoring his teams third goal in the 81st minute, Suarez fired a ball that deflected off West Ham defender Joey OBrien and into the net. Originally credited as an own goal, the dubious goals panel decided to award the 84th minute marker as a second for Suarez bringing his season total to 15. 4. Chelsea (LW-3) Two Andre Schurrle goals were not enough as Chelsea fell 3-2 to Stoke City. After opening the scoring in the ninth minute, Schurrle pulled his team even in the 53rd, just three minutes after they had fallen behind for the first time in the contest. Chelsea pressed with the game tied and in the short time they had after falling behind, but were not able to find a third goal to leave with a point. 5. Everton (LW-5) Gerard Deulofeu scored in the 84th minute as Everton collected a well-earned point on the road against Arsenal. The Toffees are on a roll after beating Manchester United and collecting a point against the Gunners, they are fifth in the table one point behind Manchester City for fourth. 6. Newcastle United (LW-9) Yohan Cabaye scored the difference maker as Newcastle picked up a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. Tim Krul picked up the clean sheet for the Magpies, who are one point out of the European places and only two points from a spot in the coveted top four. 7. Tottenham (LW-6) After falling behind, Spurs took control of a 2-1 victory over Sunderland. With the help of an opponents own goal, Tottenham won their second straight game as Paulinho also found the mark for the North London side. Jermain Defoe hit the post twice and fired wide with another chance so the game could have been out of sight earlier. 8. Southampton (LW-8) Dani Osvaldo scored one of the goals of the season and the Saints held off a late charge to draw Manchester City 1-1. Osvaldo beat City captain Vincent Kompany and defender Pablo Zabaleta before firing a strike into the top corner of the net just before halftime. While City pressed for a go ahead marker Southampton was with them step for step and in the end got a deserved point out of the contest. 9. Manchester United (LW-7) With Wayne Rooney, who has been their best player this season suspended due to yellow card accumulation, United fell 1-0 to Newcastle to further jeopardize their title defence. The Champions lost back to back home contests for the first time since 2002. They have also picked up only two points from their last four games. 10. Marcus Mariota Titans Jersey. Swansea City (LW-10) Chico Flores scored in the 60th minute to rescue a point for Swansea at home against Hull City. After falling behind after nine minutes of play, the Swans worked their way back into the game and were rewarded with a goal and a point. They also welcomed Michu back into the lineup to hopefully add a spark to their offence going forward. 11. Hull City (LW-12) Danny Graham scored in the ninth minute but it wasnt enough as they drew Swansea 1-1. Graham, a former Swansea man, would enjoy the goal on his return but could not lead his team to the victory. In the end both teams deserved a point from this match. 12. Aston Villa (LW-11) Ten terrible minutes were enough for Villa to fall 2-0 at the hands of Fulham. Gabriel Agbonlahor wasted an early chance for Villa who were pretty even against Fulham, but for the stretch that saw them give up two goals and the game. 13. Stoke City (LW-15) Late Substitute Oussama Assaidi fired home a 90th minute winner to help Stoke City stun Chelsea 3-2. After falling behind in the ninth minute, the Potters battle back to take a 2-1 lead only to see Chelsea pull level once again. Stoke picked up their first league win against Chelsea since 1975 in a very entertaining contest. 14. West Bromwich Albion (LW-13) While the stats say West Brom should have cruised to victory, Norwich found the net twice as the Baggies fell 2-0. Stephane Sessegnon and Shane Long were both wasteful with chances to put their team on the board and in front of their home fans, extended a stretch of only one win in their last nine contests. 15. Cardiff City (LW-14) Though they looked good at times, Cardiff was not able to find a marker as they fell 2-0 to Crystal Palace. Fraizer Campbell almost put the Welsh side ahead in the opening minutes, but was not able to convert. Palace would go on to create the chances that led to the difference in the contest. 16. Norwich City (LW-16) Gary Hooper and Leroy Fer were both on target as Norwich knocked off West Brom 2-0 at The Hawthorns. The Canaries were coming off Luis Suarez masterpiece and showed a good effort to get back into the win column. John Ruddy picked up the clean sheet for Norwich. 17. West Ham United (LW-17) While the score stayed level for almost the entire first half, West Ham was never a threat in a 4-1 loss to Liverpool. A Martin Skrtel own goal accounted for their only scoring in a game where they also produced an own goal courtesy of Guy Demel. Joey OBriens own goal was eventually credited as a second for Luis Suarez. 18. Crystal Palace (LW-19) Tony Pulis led his new Crystal Palace side to a second victory, this time 2-0 over Cardiff City as they continue to fight against relegation. Cameron Jerome and Marouane Chamakh both scored for Palace, who now find themselves in the relegation zone on goal differential alone. 19. Fulham (LW-20) A Dimitar Berbatov penalty and a Steve Sidwell strike were enough to give Fulham a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. The two goals, scored in a nine minute span, put the game out of reach for the Cottagers who need to keep collecting these points as they find themselves firmly in the relegation battle. 20. Sunderland (LW-18) Their fifth own goal of the season condemned Sunderland to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham. Adam Johnson opened the scoring for the Black Cats, who sit at the bottom of the table, but after Paulinho leveled the score, John OShea put the ball past his keeper for what would be the deciding marker.
