Pundits are predicting the Pac 12 is packing quite a wallop these days.

Too bad its teams only seem to beat up on each other in respective bids to become NCAA football champs.

When it counts most on the national stage think Oregon in the 2011 BCS National Championship Game loss to Auburn or Stanford Rose Bowl loss to Michigan State this past January Pac 12ers never seem to get the job done.

Yet they put on a show against each other, and with stars such as Brett Hundley, Ty Montgomery, cheap jerseys Marcus Mariota, Austin Hill, Taylor Kelly, Sean Mannion and Javorius Allen, the same showstopping will go on again this pigskin season.

This is how they roll: Oregon can shake Stanford; Stanford is forever troubled by USC; USC always falls to rival UCLA, UCLA never gets past Oregon or Stanford.

With USC looking like it back in the mix after two plus years out of the fray and UCLA being billed a serious squad, that gives the conference four legit contenders along, of course, with Oregon and Stanford in the title talk.

Washington will improve with Chris Petersen installed as the new head coach, and Oregon State is no slouch with Mannion at the QB controls.

With no clear cut unbeaten team after the Pac 12, it hurts the conference chances of putting a team in that final four.

But only one will be eligible by season end to make the newly adapted four team playoff.

And so this year edition of the Pac 12 vicious circle checks into the spotlight this week, when USC and Stanford step into the conference boxing ring Saturday afternoon.

The winner will get a leg up in pursuit of the coveted national title. That is until they get knocked down by another Pac 12 power in a week or two.

Second down

Speaking of USC, so much for the jury being out on junior QB Cody Kessler. He lit up Fresno State last week for 394 passing yards and four touchdowns as part of the Trojans 701 yard day. He sure showed us Just to put that in perspective, USC field day was more than the Quack Attack 673 yards in vaunted Oregon Week 1 destruction of South Dakota Is it a bad thing Texas has lost QB David Ash again? The enigmatic starter is down and out with concussion symptoms like those that destroyed most of his season last year. The Longhorns can seem to catch a break, although not enough of them have been catching passes from Ash during his tenure as top pivot. Maybe this is a chance for new coach Charlie Strong to find a long term answer under centre, and maybe Week 2 starter Tyrone Swoopes is that guy. Stay tuned to the Longhorn Network The yips may be No. 20 Wisconsin ultimate undoing this year. Yup, junior QB Joel Stave watched his backup, Tanner McEvoy, stink up The Swamp at LSU last Saturday with an 8 for 24, 50 yard loss because he himself has the yips. Apparently, the ball just isn coming out of Stave hands the way it should be, and so he sidelined indefinitely. So, then, are Wisconsin Big Ten chances.

Third inches

Never mind Football. QB Kenny Hill, who stepping quite nicely into the boots of Johnny Manziel or Johnny Football at Texas A likes Trill as in and in rap culture for his nickname. When you throw for an eye popping 511 yards in your debut, like Hill did in Week 1 against a ranked team, you can call yourself whatever you want What the deal with all the teams with the nickname Rice, Temple and Florida Atlantic, for sure. Anybody else? Or do you give a hoot? Sorry Props to Connecticut QB Casey Cochran for going retro. He all the fashion rage these days sporting a fantastic mullet/moustache combo that a throwback to 1970s frat boy days.

Fourth goal

No. 2 Alabama is down two key players, with starting WR DeAndrew White (shoulder) and senior DB Jarrick Williams (foot) out 2 4 weeks each Baylor QB Bryce Petty intends to start Saturday despite cracks in his back Second team All SEC RB Mike Davis is likely a go for desperate South Carolina in Week 2 The first game between top 10 teams this season features No. 3 Oregon vs. No. Don call it make or break for Sparty, though. But the Spartans, 13 point cheap authentic jerseys underdogs, have to keep it close to remain in the national championship conversation Saturday marks the last match that has seen legendary schools Michigan and No. In a traditional rivalry that dates back to 1887, Michigan is 24 16 1 against Notre Dame. This one will be decided on the last possession. Go Blue!
